We here at Beserk want to help animal organisations around the world
preserve the many beautiful animal species on our planet. Anywhere between
35-150 species become extinct every day due to deforestation and other
human disturbances.
We
would hate to see a world without wild animals and at the rate we are
going that is a very scary reality. So we are doing our small bit to
help out! If you are interested in finding out more on any of these
charities please visit the links below.
Thankyou!

PETA -
PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS
PETA focuses its
attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals
suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory
farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment
industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel
killing of beavers, birds and other "pests," and the abuse
of backyard dogs. |
Asian
Rhino Project

www.asianrhinos.org.au |
Asian Rhino Project
(ARP) is a non-profit, volunteer organisation raising awareness and
support for the three Asian rhinoceros species. The ARP was founded
in 2003 by Kerry Crosbie and a small group of fellow Zoo Keepers.
In November 2003,
a devastating event occurred. One of the four captive breeding program
centers (Sungai Dusun Sumatran Rhino Breeding Center) lost their whole
population of captive Sumatran Rhino due to a devastating illness which
wiped them out within two weeks. The current captive population of this
species now stood at 8. Not a great record from a population of 40 founding
individuals.

Tacugama
Chimpanzee Sanctuary

www.tacugama.com |
The Tacugama Chimpanzee
Sanctuary covers 100 acres of important rainforest and watershed. Tacugama
was established in 1995 to home and rehabilitate confiscated, orphaned
and abandoned chimps. It is illegal in Sierra Leone to hunt, capture,
kill or keep chimpanzees. The sanctuary now takes care of over 90 chimps.
Much work is also undertaken towards stopping the illegal trade of this
endangered species, and supporting the protection and conservation of
chimpanzees in the wild through education, communication and legal enforcement.
Beserk is sponsoring
beautiful little Zoyas. Zoyas
is approximately 4 years old and is one of the youngest residents at
Tacugama. He was rescued in December, 2005 from a remote village near
the Liberian border. His mother was killed by a hunter and the infant
abandoned.
Zoyas arrived in
a terrible state. He was wounded, dehydrated, weak and mentally traumatized.
He had gun shot fragment wounds lodged in his head, neck and feet. He
also had a deep infected wound around his ankle where he had been tied
for days with a rope. With excellent medical care and much love, Zoyas
has completed his health checks and has joined an infant group of seven.

The
Sumatran
Tiger Trust

www.tigertrust.info |
It is estimated
there are less than 400 Sumatran Tigers left in the wild today. The
Sumatran Tiger Conservation Programme is the largest conservation programme
for tigers in Indonesia and extremely active in the wild.
Bukit Tigapuluh
National Park is essential habitat for an estimated 100 of the last
400 critically endangered Sumatran tigers left in the wild. Sumatran
Tigers are on the brink of extinction and Bukit Tigapuluh is one of
the most important habitats remaining for Sumatran tigers.
100% of the money
raised finances habitat preservation, community development programmes,
anti-poaching patrols, park ranger training and the purchase of essential
field equipment.
Please help them
in their fight to save the last of the Sumatran Tigers. |
